Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BCHFT) was established in April 2020. We provide mental health and LDA services across the Black Country, Children’s services in Dudley and a range of other services across the region. 

Our organisation’s values outline how we approach all that we do – caring, enabling, integrity and working together. We are proud to value and promote diversity in all aspects of business and we have recently made a pledge to be an ‘anti-racism’ organisation. BCH strives to promote inclusivity and opportunity as a fundamental part of our culture. Our organisation already has strong links with the university and other local partners through our commitment to collaboration and partnership. For these reasons and more, we are proud to be a partner in the ‘That’s Me’ project. 

City of Wolverhampton Council

The City of Wolverhampton has agreed to join this project because they see the value in work that can be done by those on Doctorial Research from the Global Majority population.  

The council wants to ensure that it engages with students in the city who are interested in research projects, so that we can support them with their research which may intern also support the citizens across the city.  

We can only progress by facilitating progression, we know that undertaking a research degree is exciting for students, but we also understand that it is hard work. Removing any barriers for students would enable them to get the research done more effectively and therefore reap the benefits sooner.  

The Greenheart Learning Partnership

The Greenheart Learning Partnership is a Multi Academy Trust that specialises in developing schools in challenging contexts, where there is a legacy of underachievement. Many of our schools serve communities from some of the most disadvantaged areas in the country, where challenges and barriers to success can appear overwhelming. We strive to develop innovative practice and deep partnerships that help to embed consistent outcomes and ensure progress for all. We deliver a school experience for all our children which increases the opportunities for them to reach their full potential through outstanding pedagogic practice, underpinned by research.   

At Greenheart, we feel it is of critical importance that educational research thrives and draws upon the experience and insights of fully representative expertise. In order to achieve this, we believe the That’s Me! project, aimed at eliminating barriers to postgraduate research study in the West Midlands, not only shares our aims but is essential in understanding and overcoming challenges experienced by under-represented communities.

The National Institute for Health and Care Research Clinical Research Network West Midlands and our host organisation Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust are committed to supporting equality, diversity and inclusion in research and education.  This is demonstrated in our approach to providing health care and health research.

Ensuring that postgraduate study is accessible to and inclusive of diverse talent from every community is a crucial element of ensuring that talented individuals from all backgrounds can make the most of opportunities across the region

Brandauer is a niche SME manufacturing business based in Newtown, Birmingham. We employ 70 awesome people who are fundamental to us servicing our customers across the world. Supplying precision tooling and components in their billions to 10 different sectors and 26 different countries we are a provider of solutions, making the seemingly impossible, possible.  

Embracing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion is a vitally important part of the response to the national skills and capabilities shortage the manufacturing sector is facing in the UK and we strive to collaborate to drive improvements wherever we can. As such we are proud to align ourselves as a collaborative contributor and partner to the That’s Me! initiative and lol look forward to working with all the stake holders to contribute what we can as a local SME to make the campaign a success.  

The Active Wellbeing Society

The Active Wellbeing Society (TAWS) is a community benefit society working to tackle inequalities and promote community wellbeing. We work nationally with communities and partners to deliver meaningful interventions and change and remove barriers to participation. We work collaboratively with communities where inequalities are at their highest, to deliver a wide range of free activities and services, and bring about sustainable change on a social, environmental and economic level. Our work is underpinned by research and insight, within which we actively seek to amplify the voices of those who are least often heard.  

We are proud to support The That’s Me! project, working alongside the University of Wolverhampton, Birmingham City University and partner organisations to understand and tackle persistent inequalities that create barriers for postgraduate research students from Global Majority groups across the region, and further our commitment to strive for a more equal and inclusive society.

We promote a fair culture at UHB through the work of the Inclusion and Wellbeing Team and the Fairness Taskforce and seek to support new employment opportunities in areas of deprivation, reducing inequality and grow the future through talent pipelines and routes into employment. These aims align with the project to tackle cultures and processes to create an enabling employment environment to champion successful research and researcher careers.

Therefore, we delighted to be working on the That’s Me! project to embed change at a further education level to improve access to postgraduate research for our global majority students .
